In April of 2004, Prairie Crossing Vineyard and Winery was officially started by Andy and Julianna Hrasky. They were attracted to the vibrant history of grape growing in Iowa, and had a passion of creating world-class wine from grapes grown in the Loess Hills of Iowa.  With construction of the winery complete, fermenting wines on a commercial level began with the 2006 harvest.  Then, a new vision came to life with the addition of the event center in 2015.

In July of 2022 Doug and Juli Gray took over as owners and operators. Doug proposed to Juli at Prairie Crossing on April 28th, 2012. They were married at Prairie Crossing on April 28th, 2022. In fact, they were the last wedding to be held prior to the tornado that destroyed the event center shortly before they took over.

 

Doug and Juli have a strong connection to Prairie Crossing and the same passion for making world class wine, so repairs were complete and the winery re-opened. Between them they have 4 grown children and a granddaughter that is the light of their life! They are also animal lovers so you will surely meet their dogs Winnie and  Mabel and all the kittens!
